Warren Waack was born July 21, 1946 DeWitt, Iowa. He graduated from Central Community High School in DeWitt in 1965.
Warren served in the U. S. Air Force from January 1967 – January 1971 in which most of that time was served in Vietnam and other locations overseas. After being honorably discharged, he returned to DeWitt and to International Harvester Farmall. He held several positions with IH Farmall including Inventory Control until the company closed. He worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance Co., managing and cooking in their cafeteria. He then worked for Bawden Printing in the warehouse until his death.
Warren married Patricia in 1976 and they had 1 child, Bridget. Warren, Patricia and Bridget are all graduates of Central with Bridget going on to further her education.
Warren was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he cooked and organized many meals and events and worked with the youth group. Warren was also very active in the DeWitt Community. He was a member and officer in the DeWitt Jaycees. He also served on the DeWitt City Council and volunteered at the DeWitt Referral Center. He coached Pony League baseball besides men’s and women’s softball.
Warren was a strong supporter of the youth in our community. He would be proud of the path our school system has traversed over the years. He recognized the importance of further education but also was a staunch supporter of on the job training and tech skills having relied on both avenues of learning during his life.
We hope that this endowment in his honor can help many Central students find and achieve their goals and aspirations.
