Samuel Clinton Potter attended DeWitt Central High School from 1977 to 1981. He was a very involved student in music and theater. Since he was a child, he enjoyed entertaining his friends and family by performing magic tricks or putting on plays in his living room, often making his four brothers and sisters the guinea pigs. His love for performing never died, and Sam went on to achieve his bachelors and masters in theater and performing arts. It is a passion he carried with him all his life. He especially enjoyed writing screenplays and making short films. Arguably, Sam was happiest doing what he loved: providing thoughtful and sustainable entertainment to all who appreciated theater, creative writing, or other performing arts, whether it be music, poetry, or acting. His family is honored to present this scholarship to an outstanding student who shares the same passion for the performing arts as Sam did.
