Both Gary and Mary were raised in the Quad city area. Gary grew up and attended school in Davenport and Mary in DeWitt. After moving away from the area, Gary for military service in Vietnam and Mary to attend College, they returned and both graduated from the University of Iowa. They moved to DeWitt in 1983 and raised four children, Will, Buffy, Briget, and Ben in the Central Community School District. They have both always appreciated not only the value of their education, but that of their children.
Mary taught elementary school in the district for over 20 years and Gary was a CPA and self-employed Financial Advisor in The Froeschle Agency.
“We have always felt blessed to not only have been able to raise our children in the DeWitt area and the Central Community Schools, but that our children have ended up moving back and living in DeWitt and the nearby area. Six of our eleven grandchildren will be attending school in this District and we look forward to a lot of future Saber activities! “
Gary and Mary wanted to offer an endowed scholarship that reflects the continuing changes in diversity in our school district and community.
“We have always felt that it is important to give back to the Community. Our hope is that this scholarship can, in a small way , help the continued education or training of a minority Central student.”
